I can't believe Race for the Cure has already come and gone again! This year was as fun as ever. It is honestly one of my favorite weekends of the year. If you haven't read my posts in the past about Race for the Cure, it is a 5k in Salt Lake that is dedicated to breast cancer research. We have been going ever since I was a little girl because that is what my grandma died of. It is always on Mothers Day weekend. Kenz has been going with us for the past couple of years and it is pretty cool for him too because his mom and grandma both died of cancer also.
We headed up to Grantsville on Friday after work. We went to Tara's and I made some pink ribbon cookies with royal icing for a breast cancer awareness fundraiser. We spent the night making cookies and visiting with family. We had to wake up really early because the race started at 8 in Salt Lake.
How cute are our shirts??
After the race, we went to the Gateway and took mom to Build a Bear for mothers day. It was a fun idea, and I think it may be a new tradition for us. The cute girl in the gray is Zack's girlfriend, Megan. This weekend was the first any of us have met her and we absolutely love her! She is going to come to Snow this fall so we are really hoping that things work out with these two.
Mmmmm, after Build a Bear we hit up Tucanos for lunch. Delicious! We still had several hours until the Bees game started, so Kenz and I decided to go watch the Avengers movie. I didn't think I would like it, but I did. It was really good.
There is always a Bees game the night of the race and the first hundred people or so get a free pink shirt! So of course we always have to do that. We sit general admission and it is SO fun to have all our cousins sitting out on the grass watching the game. The Bees lost, but it was such a fun night!
We got home really late and of course I slept the whole way home. Oops! Yesterday was spent visiting our moms and recooperating from our long weekend. I got some awesome presents for mothers day because I guess it is officially my first mothers day. That's right, we found out that I am pregnant again. I have been trying not to make a huge fuss about it considering what happened last time. But I was able to get an ultrasound and see the baby and it's heartbeat, which I never got to do last time. They say once you've seen the heartbeat, the chances of miscarrying are very low so I hope that is the case. Based on how SICK I have been, I am pretty sure everything is still good with the baby. Holy cow I have never been so sick or tired in my life! Which is actually a good sign because I wasn't experiencing any of this with my last pregnancy. In two weeks, we will be able to do another ultrasound. I am really looking forward to that because Kenz wasn't able to go with me last time. When that happens I will post some pictures and let you know how everything is going.
So, needless to say, it has been a wonderful mothers day weekend. I can't believe how fast this year is flying by. It seems like it was just Christmas! Happy Mothers Day everyone!
